Research

Interests

I love using statistics to help others uncover knowledge and have enjoyed being a consultant for a wide variety of projects. My research interests are in model selection for mixed effects models for clustered data, and practical problems encountered when using statistics to rank institutions.

Mentors:

Over the years, I've been lucky to have met some kind people who generously shared their time, wisdom and knowledge with me.

I was a post doc at Ghent University in Belgium with Els Goetghebeurs and Umea University in Sweden with Marie Erikson.

Lily Xu supervised my doctoral thesis at the University of California, San Diego and, along with Michael Donohue, helped me become a better applied statistician by overseeing my projects at the UCSD Clinical and Translational Research Institute.

During a summer research experience for undergraduates, Juha Pohjanpelto and other math faculty at OSU provided a very realistic introduction to math research.

At Bakersfield College, Arnie Andrasian helped with my first applied math project, "Ants on a doughnut"!
