Chapter 6: Equations Relating Two Variables
6.1 Graphs of Equations in Two Unknowns
- Graph the solution set of an equation in two unknowns.
6.2 x- and y-Intercepts
- Find x- and y-intercepts of an equation in two variables.
6.3 Slopes of Lines
- Find the slope of a line, including vertical and horizontal.
- Know and apply the relationship between slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines.
6.4 Equations of Lines
- Graph a line, given its equation; give the equation of a line having a given graph.
- Determine the equation of a line through two points.
6.5 Applications of Linear Equations
- Use a given linear model of a “real” situation and a given value of either of the two linearly related quantities to find the value of the other.
- Given a linear model of a “real” situation, interpret the values of the slope and intercept.
